Damn, Ohno and Notagain

I don’t know if I wrote this when we were living in Zimbabwe, but the Shona people have an interesting way of naming their children: the mother names the child based on what she experienced during her pregnancy.

So a few examples of some classic names we know: NoRest, Mistake, Blessing, Gift, and Misery.

And Morris.

Nevermind that last one, but I asked Mikaela what she would name our kids if she followed Shona custom. Her reply?

“Damn, Ohno, and Notagain!”
